So Nokia’s design chief Marko Ahtisaari has confirmed that he is working on a Nokia Tablet, the Super Dooper tablet. Many think it will have MicroSoft Windows 8 on it, Some Hope its MeeGo and Some hope its anything Linux based (Meltimi).
As much as I would hope it would be Linux based it looks like its “Most” likely going to be MicroSoft 8 based. In the short term this could be advantageous for Nokia but I reserve judgement for the future.
Reuters:
Nokia design chief Marko Ahtisaari is spending a third of his time on creating a tablet for the cellphone maker, which would stand out among hundreds of iPad-challengers, he said in an interview with Finnish magazine Kauppalehti Optio.
“We are working on it,” he was quoted as saying.Nokia’s Chief Executive Stephen Elop has said the category is interesting for the Finnish company, but has stressed the need for a different approach to numerous rivals trying to battle against the dominance of Apple’s iPad.
“We continue to eye the tablet space with interest, but have made no specific announcements,” a company spokesman said on Thursday.
Nokia is widely expected to launch an own tablet using Microsoft’s Windows 8 software later this year.

They wait for ipad3 to anounce this
Well, if it will be MeeGo it can be good pair to my N9 – the company phone, then our company will buy a fiew for work for me and collegues. If windows then please be informed we have plenty proposals of tablets and for sure cheaper, so it will bo no go option. Nokia staff will never be at this level, and chinese manufacturing don’t need to be “made by Nokia” – this would be paying for logo only, and senseless waste of money. Especially when the same can be bought “made in China” without Nokia logo but sagnificantly cheaper. Tablet is OK, but the one we-users need, so MeeGo. A windows one will be only for reviews and marketing purposes. And last but not least windows is horribly uncomfortable and nasty in tablets and also phones (including Lumia…), so after many different experiences this is unrecomended option as the worst possible choice.
Please be MeeGo! Android doesn’t appeal to everyone (including me) with its laggy clunky heavy and (in most cases) non-hardware accelerated UI, and Apple are just plain evil.
Release a MeeGo tablet, I’ll buy two
Not anymore theyre not. They just got tanked by the “We’re bringing out our own tablet” MS announcement. Which pretty much guarantees that any 3rd party MS tablet maker is relegated to the margins of an already ultra slim non ipad share of the tablet pie. Nokia no longer have the financial resources to enter the profit scarce non ipad tablet market. Elop spent big on the WP7 phone OS promotion. Only to see that tanked by the “Hang on until you see WP8 coming in the fall” announcement by MS, and the “WP7 phones cant be upgraded to WP8″ announcement by the same ‘partner’. Id like to see Marko’s comments now. You can probably find him at the pub down the street from Nokia crying in is Heineken.
