There are lots of rumours going around about the existence or potentially the “Lack of” existence of MeeGo recently. Mainly the piece from DigiTimes was the culprit.
Well heres a rumour reported by netbooknews.de about Samsung being ready to step in and fly with MeeGo. Could this be true ? Well, this is something that we have also heard a few times but nothing I can solidly quote but then if netbooksnews have also been hearing things then 2 + 2 = SOLID RUMOUR.
Can Samsung take onboard MeeGo ? They already have their Android / Bada and SLP Linux commitments. Certainly from a MeeGo perspective Samsung is possibly a dream come true, MeeGo running on Samsung hardware is enough to get anyone hot under the collar.
With the current rate of MeeGo rumours floating around I think the time for a big announcement isn’t too far off and hopefully we should know something officially soon.

Errr. So it appears that a lot of people have assumed that Samsung are Buying MeeGo, just to for the sake of clarity MeeGo is an Open Source Operating System that is hosted by the Linux Foundation and has numerous companies contributing to the continued development of said Operating System. Samsung would be another important member company that could take over taking the lead in pushing the OS forward if Intel took a backward step from this position.

It would be LEGEN-wait for it-DARY!!! I’ll definitely buy any Samsung device with Meego (I’m just dreaming a Galaxy SII-like smartphone running Meego AWESOME!!!)

Nokia and Intel gave up a beautiful open source OS that is unmatched by iOS, Android or Win7. And hopefully with Samsung’s market status, it will be obtainable and affordable to many of us
The integration that they can get from running it on mobiles, tablets, laptops and PCs sounds awfully cool to me
Merger between meego & bada is not possible. Bada runs best on non-smart touch phones and feature phones. Samsung needs an OS for those product categories.
Meego will be ideal for products like transformer & atrix.
Samsung joining MeeGo development is a wise choice for sure as I see. No Doubt what many others say! MeeGo has great potential, it is a simple and userfriendly OS that can be directly adoped. I love button less smart phones like N9 and N900 too. If samsung can bring in to market soon such front button-less smartphones, Samsung becomes #1 in no time. They can forget focusing other devices that were interrupted by court orders & legal issues, and quickly turn their focus & energies on button-less smartphones with MeeGo! I think that is the way to Go!
