OpenMobile’s Application Compatibility Layer (ACL™) brings over 250,000 Android apps to your MeeGo device. ACL for MeeGo performs seamlessly on Smartphones, Tablets, eReaders, Connected TVs and IVIs. ACL powers MeeGo devices with an Apps Ecosystem touting over 250,000 Android apps.
The Video below is a demo of ACL running on an x86 MeeGo tablet running Android Apps. Facebook is shown running and the promise is that anything running on Android will run in the same manner on MeeGo. You can obviously multitask and run native MeeGo Apps side by side with Android Apps. All major third party app stores are supported with ACL.
This demo showcases ACL (version .9) running Pine Trail on version 1.2.0.90 of MeeGo. If you are focused on MeeGo, Linux, Bada, WebOS, or even Windows, OpenMobile can quickly integrate our exciting new technology to your OS and your users will have immediate access to the 250k+ apps.
Benefits
- ACL destroys the App barrier
In a cutthroat marketplace for mobile devices, it is virtually impossible to attract millions
of customers without a vibrant apps ecosystem with hundreds of thousands of apps.
ACL destroys the App barrier and opens up the market for your device with an entire App
ecosystem – on day one. - ACL for MeeGo is 100% compatible
ACL for MeeGo runs every single Android App – no exceptions. Because it leverages the Android
runtime environment and the Dalvik VM, it runs every app just as it would run on an Android device. - ACL for MeeGo delivers native performance
All Android apps perform as native on the MeeGo Operating System with zero latencies.
ACL does not drain your device resources. Device power and memory will be unchanged. - ACL for MeeGo requires zero developer effort
App developers don’t have to modify, recompile or repackage their apps for your MeeGo device.
ACL for MeeGo ensures that every single Android app works on MeeGo with no developer effort or
intervention. - Differentiate and drive margins
Businesses need to make a profit and differentiation drives profitability. ACL for MeeGo gives you a
portable Apps Ecosystem. Now, you can differentiate your device at every level to attract customers
and edge competition.
Features
- Full speed 3D graphics
Android apps enjoy the performance benefits of hardware-accelerated OpenGL in your OS
environment. - Android multimedia compatibility
ACL for MeeGo delivers the kernel of the Android runtime to your Operating system, ensuring full
multimedia compatibility without any drain on power or resources. - Security and sandboxing, keeping apps in their place
Apps launch and run from within their parameters. ACL for MeeGo ensures Apps stay in their place,
eliminating any resource drain that is always required by alternative dual boot solutions. - Your user experience is on the forefront
ACL is not virtualization or emulation. ACL integrates the Android application runtime into the native
target OS. This puts your user experience in the forefront. Users do not need to switch operating
systems or be cognizant of an emulator environment to access Android apps. Those apps feel native. - Apps install and launch in their native environment
Users can install and launch in your native environment. They never see or touch any of the Android
environment. - Complete integration of task management
ACL delivers completed integrated task management. - Cooperating ecosystem with Android’s modularity and inter-process communication
Complete compatibility with Android inter-process communication, enabling multiple apps and
middleware to work cooperatively, as in the native Android environment. - Android’s Java base and UI classes
A full set of Java base classes and Android-specific classes and APIs, as in the native Android
environment. - Supports Android API Level 4+, NDK6+

What about N9?
This looks so sick!!! I can’t wait. do we have a release date for this software? is it free?! AHHHH Meego = WIN.
It may be able to run Android apps, but how do you get them if they are only available on Googles app store?
@Hakki working on it….
@NB, we will be announcing release schedule…stay tuned
@ dans, you can use any other android appstore such as Amazon, SlideMe and so forth…
Great! hurry;)
No answer about price?
hey whats happening? is this plan get over? there is no announce for anyone…
Am I correct that “OEM only” means we’ll never see it in an app store?
Bryan, I wouldn’t say never…but not in the next 30 days.
do they plan to support harmattan
Please let it be so
What about doing this for N9
WOW! im not worried about Myriad Alien Dalvik anymore
Wow… if this is released for the N9 and it works very well, I would be a happy n9 customer
Wow… if this is released for the N9 and it works very well, I would be a happy n9 customer
Dont release only to OEMs. Nokia will never purchase this bcuz according to Flop android is the enemy. Sell it to the consumers
I understand why they are thinking B2B, it is money up front. But unless Nokia/acer etc. is in on it they have to go B2C. E.g. If this works for the N9, you could sell this for min 20$ on ovi market, and that is alot more than they will get pr. device in a OEM B2B model.
Please make it work on N9! That would make me HAPPY
this is a hoax, folks. Quick visit to the “openalliance” website reveals that it is based on “C#” – something that is not even available or officially supported as it is a windows only platform.
This is another FUD tool from m$ – either that or someone smoked too much before spreading this FUD.
“OpenMobile’s ACL for MeeGo is designed for the OEM and not for end users or other players in the mobile device industry.”! I do not think Microsoft will allow Elop/Nokia to make this available for the N9-users, because that would completly kill WP7!
Does this really give access Google Android Market, can I really use my apps that I have paid for on the Android Market without having to pay for them again on any other Android App Market?
are megoo for nokia only?
Will this be available for Maemo 5 ??? My N900 is begging for fresh blood (apps).
Nachi, how is dewelopement going?
Does this work in Nokia QT products, Meltemi and Harmatan?
Thanks for your continued interest. We are making very good progress. We are working with industry players to make ACL available. Please stay tuned for announcements, progress.
Regards
Why not release this as software for end users. I would be more than happy to pay for this if it enables me to install Android apps on my N9.
I have been tuned for a long time now, get it on nokia store and i will gladly pay 25$ for it.
VAPORWARE
What about Tizen? I hope the developer community will stay with meego!! Does anybody here have any information on that?
Come on Nachi give us some more
I’m thinking about getting a N9 but i only will if it can handle Android Apps, so please release this to the customers
Any schedule yet?

Is there an update Nachi? It’s been 2 months, and I’m eager to buy a phone soon. I would love to see android apps on the N9. Would pay for it as well.

Is there any chance that this software is going to be released?
