I do use Linux every day with my always trusty Nokia N900! open source rocks!
ofcourse Open Source rocks..promote FOSS ideologies
What is FOSS?? I mean how can I achieve coding or using it??
beautiful post.
Linux FTW!
i appreciate linux i have formatted a partition a part of my alienware M18x laptop to install linux just i want to know that which linux does NASA, physics Researchers , and others use? which operating system of linux?
Give it a rest already! First, I haven’t seen a “Blue Screen of Death” since the early days of using Windows XP. It’s not really an issue for anyone anymore unless there is a hardware defect or seriously buggy drivers at play. Even Linux is not immune to these problems. Get with the times and find a new dead horse to beat.
Second, nearly all of the things listed WOULD EXIST WITHOUT Linux. If not Linux, than a different operating system would be used. Simple as that.
Actually that’s very untrue. A lot of these projects simply wouldn’t exist in the first place if an O/S as good as Linux wasn’t available for free.
It’s not just about the tech, you’ve got to take economics into account as well.
While other operating system might have been used it’s it interesting that these company’s with billions of dollars at their disposal still choose Linux over the rest? I work on computers all the time an BSOD still a problem my friend even with 7. Virus still a major threat.
From personal experience, I’ve worked on all these projects, it’s also the main O/S behind the BBC iPlayer, Disney’s XD site, and pretty much all of Research In Motions infrastructure.
Its powerful stable and secure Operating System…
the title is misleading.. it should say: “twelve interesting things powered by linux”
