What a week. The Nokia N9 comes out and gets accepted by Media and Consumers alike. Fast forward a mere two days and Nokia CEO Stephen Elop tells Finnish newspaper HELSINGIN SANOMAT that
… there is no returning to MeeGo, even if the N9 turns out to be a hit.
This particular bit of news did get publicized a few days ago but people are still finding it hard to swallow, So here is the news in Black and White.
It doesn’t make sense for Nokia to abandon something that could potentially work, but that is my view. Nokia will now forge ahead with Windows Phone and possibly a new Qt5 compliant Operating System. This is not a time for us to bad mouth Nokia for what they are doing. They have made a mistake and now are in a hole that they can’t get out of. What is clear is the potential of MeeGo devices and thats what should drive us forward.

confusion between platforms and devices.
yes, nokia’s platform decision is made; wp7 will be the platform that nokia invests in to attempt to become the third major mobile ecosystem.
regardless of how well the n9 is received this won’t change that decision, nor should it, but what it will affect is the frequency with which further meego devices are released.
if samsung can develop bada and market it alongside their android
products, why can nokia not develop meego and market it alongside wp7
products?

if they have a multi OS strategy, and if N9 sells more than wp7, and elop wants to still support wp7 – then fire elop. dump him with no golden parachute. start a criminal enquiry for criminal intent to destroy nokia. connect the dots, and you will see nokia being torn down by microsoft, step by step.
I would say the guy is a master at killing sales momentum. His burning platform comment, helped reduce demand for Symbian even faster than it was waning before – quite the accomplishment.
Naturally he’s now going to release a phone and make sure nobody buys it.
But why not, simply not release the phone? I mean, he’s not even good at killing his sales – the best way to kill sales is stop making any phones.

There’s just no way that I’m gonna spend money on a phone running software by freaking Microsoft. I would rather buy a Nokia 1100 and stay with it for the rest of my life. To hell with Elop. Nokia fans would PAY for the Board of Directors to fire this idiot.

what a surprise, elop is a trojan horse and nokia is doomed. N9 is my last nokia phone, i’ll NEVER buy a microsoft phone, i don’t want it even for free or if they pay me to use it
