Intel In-Vehicle Infotainment at CES
Here is a demo setup of an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) unit at the Intel Booth at CES 2011. Intel want to provide the end customer with whatever solution the customer is interested in to work very well on their platform. May that be Windows, QNX or our beloved MeeGo.
They are active in helping MeeGo in being a great Open Source solution for IVI.
A car in not a netbook or a tablet or a cellphone, those are all end client devices and a car in not necessarily an end device and a lot of the implementations that Intel are looking at for cars, the car is the server. For example In this demo, the connected car concept, the car is the WiFi network and provides the connectivity for the individual devices to the internet through it.
At the moment not every stack in MeeGo is ready so it can already be the Server and the client and that is some of the work that needs to be done.
These areExcited to see where MeeGo is going.
